5.7 Loading samples
If samples are well balance when loaded in the centrifuge, separation of the different
phases during centrifugation will be optimal due to the absence of vibrations that could
interfere. Therefore, the load of samples must be as much balanced as possible by placing
tubes of same weight, shape and size in geometrically symmetrical positions; if necessary
use tubes with water. This will avoid possible vibrations that will assure a better performance in
separation of samples.
The selection of adapters and tubes for centrifugation must be done taking into account
the maximum nominal value of speed or RCF (see Chart 1); do not exceed these values.
Take into account the using life time of the recipient for simple
centrifugation (plastic, glass). Check if they present any damage
and if affirmative replace by a new one.
5.8 Safety use of rotor
-
Sample loading and tube placing must be perfectly balanced and symmetrical.
-
Swing-out rotor must not run at the critical speed of 1200 rpm for a long time or equipment
will suffer big vibrations that will affect its service life.
-
In case of rotor replacement, use the supplied wrench to loosen the rotor nut by
anti-clockwise rotation and then replace rotor.
Do not start using the equipment until the nut is perfectly tighten to
the motor shaft.
-
After a continuous use of the equipment, check if the rotor nut is loosen and tighten it if
necessary before next use.
-
Sample tubes must be placed in rotor at the same time and in symmetrical positions
(permitted difference is ≤ 1.5g); asymmetrical sample load is not permitted.
5. 9 Operation parameter setting
Taking as example the use of swing-out rotor with adapters 8x50 mL (#2 according to
Chart 1), proceed as follows for parameter configuration. For example, value of parameters will
be the following:
