Step 2 / Desulphation Pulsing current and voltage dissolves the sulphate from the
battery's lead plates to restore maximum battery capacity.
Step 3 / Analysis: switching off the charging current to check the open-circuit
voltage.
Step 4 / Reactivation charge: resumption of the desulphation in preparation for the
main charge.
Step 5 / Main charge: constant-current charge with the maximum charging current.
Step 6 / Charge optimisation: the charging current is gradually reduced to reach the
max. possible battery capacity.
Step 7 / Voltage check: the battery's charging status is checked.
Step 8 / Maintenance charge: if necessary, a pulsed maintenance charge takes
place, preventing the battery from discharging.
circle-c NOTE:
For 6V charging, points 3 and 4 are omitted.
6. CONNECTION TO BATTERY
• First make sure that your battery is a 6V or 12V battery and that a charging pro-
gramme matches the battery type.
• Do not charge batteries with other charging voltages or an unsuitable charging
programme.
Please proceed as follows:
1. If necessary, disconnect the battery from the electric circuit (observe the in-
structions provided by the vehicle manufacturer). To do this, first disconnect the
connection at the negative terminal (black) and then at the positive terminal (red).
2. Now connect the charger to the socket. All LEDs light up briefly.
3. Begin by connecting the red cable to the positive pole, then connect the black
cable to the car's ground point (in the case of a built-in battery) or to the negative
pole of the battery (in the case of a removed battery).
4. Select the suitable charging programme with the mode button, the charging pro-
cess starts automatically.
5. If you would like to disconnect the charger again, begin by disconnecting it from
the mains before you disconnect the terminals from the battery.
circle-c NOTE:
If you leave the terminals connected to the battery and only disconnect the charger
from the mains, the battery will discharge more quickly because constant voltage
checking will take place. We recommend that the charger be disconnected from the
battery when not in use.
This battery charger comes with an automatic memory function, i.e. as soon as
an alternating current supply is connected, it starts in the most recently selected
mode.
circle-c NOTE:
If the charger shows a fully charged battery after a few minutes, this indicates that
the battery was already full before charging or that the battery is old or damaged. In
this case, the battery must be replaced.
6.1. SAFETY FEATURES
This battery charger comes with the following safety features:
• Short-circuit protection
• Protection against reverse polarity
• Protection against overheating
7. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
This charger requires only minimal maintenance. As with any device or tool, certain
measures extend the life of the battery charger.
1. Store the charger in a clean, dry place.
2. Wind up the cable when it is not being used.
3. Clean the housing and the cable with a slightly damp cloth.
