OPERATIONS
BEFORE BEGINNING OPERATIONS
Set the controls and switches as follows: See page 2.
1. Set the POWER switch to ON. @
2.
Press. the SP-A, SP-B selector switch A 6. or B ©
3.
Set the BALANCE control 9] to the center position.
4.
Set the DIRECT (CD or DAT) switches to OFF. @ (CD
or DAT)
PLAYBACK PROCEDURES
1.
Press one of the input selector switches.
Use to select the playback source.
For playback of a compact disc: Press [CD].
For playback of a DAT: Press [DAT].
For playback of a tape: Press [TAPE].
For playback of a record: Press [PHONO].
For reception of an AM/FM broadcast: Set to [TUNER].
For playback with the equipment connected to the AUX
terminals: Press [AUX].
2.
Operate the equipment to begin playback.

Adjust the playback volume with the VOLUME control
on this unit.
Playback using a graphic equalizer
All sources
can
be processed
by a graphic
equalizer
connected
to
the
ADAPTOR
terminals.
However,
equalization is not possible when the DAT DIRECT switch
or CD DIRECT switch is set to ON.
RECORDING TAPES:
Recording from a source selected with the REC SELECTOR
switch:
1.
Select
the
recording
equipment
with
the
REC
SELECTOR switch.
¢ When
set to SOURCE,
the signals from the device
connected to the selected input terminals are recorded.
(To record signals from the device connected
to the
PHONO or AUX terminals, set the REC SELECTOR switch
to SOURCE and press the input selector switch PHONO
or AUX.)
¢ Recording is impossible with the REC SELECTOR switch
set to OFF.

When a graphic equalizer is connected to the ADAPTOR
terminals, it is possible to freely adjust the quality of the
sound to be recorded.
NOTE:
When this switch is set to a position other than SOURCE, the
equipment selected by the REC SELECTOR switch can be recorded,
irrespective of the settings of the input selector and DIRECT
switches.
Recording with the CD DIRECT switch set to ON:
1.
Set the CD DIRECT RECORDING switch to ON when
recording from a compact disc.
2.
Begin recording by operating the recording equipment
and the tape deck.

Refer to the operating instructions for your tape deck for
proper operating procedures.
NOTE:
In this case the sound to be recorded cannot be adjusted with the
graphic equlizer.
COPYING TAPES:
When two decks are used (or with a double cassette deck),
you can record the sounds from one deck onto the other.
Application examples:
*
To make
a tape copy with contents
identical to the
original tape.
¢ To edit a recording of an FM broadcast in order to cut
out
unwanted
commercials,
recording
only desired
material onto another tape.
When using two tape decks
1.
Load
tapes
for playback
(pre-recorded
tape)
and
recording into the respective tape decks.
2.
Select the copying
direction
with
REC
SELECTOR
switch.
*® When copying from the tape deck connected to the DAT
terminals,
to the tape deck connected
to the TAPE
terminals: Set to DAT
TAPE.

When copying from the tape deck connected to the TAPE
terminals,
to the tape deck
connected
to the DAT
terminals: Set to TAPE
® DAT.
NOTE:
The tape selected with the REC SELECTOR switch will be the input
source, regardless of the settings of the input selector and DIRECT
switches.
3.
Operate the tape decks to begin copying.
Set the tape deck with the original (playback) tape to
the playback mode, and set the tape deck with the blank
tape to the recording mode.
