TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions.
If you think that there is something wrong with this
component, check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components
and electrical appliances being used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service
center or your dealer to carry out repair work.
Symptom
No power supplied to unit.
No sound.
No sound from one speaker.
Can't record tapes.
Probable Cause
Remedy
© Power plug is disconnected from outlet.
e The
component
power
plug has been
plugged into another component power
outlet (e.g. timer, etc.), but power to that
unit is disconnected.
e insert plug securely in outlet.
® Turn on power to other component.
© Connecting cords are disconnected from
terminals, or connected incorrectly.
® Terminals or connecting cords pin plugs
are dirty.
® The MUTING switch is set to ON.
¢ The pressed input selector switch does
not match the desired playback source.
© Operation
of
other
components
is
incorrect.
© The speaker selector switches are set to
"OFF."
e Connecting
cords or speaker wires are
disconnected on that side.
¢ BALANCE
control has been adjusted to
one
side.
(Except
during
DIRECT
operation)
© The position of the REC SELECTOR switch
is incorrect.
® Connections are incorrect.
© Operation of tape deck is incorrect.
e The PURE DIRECT
LINE switch is set to
ON.
* Connect securely.
© Clean terminals and plugs.
¢ Set the switch to OFF.
¢ Press
the
correct
switch
(CD,
DAT,
PHONO, TUNER, TAPE, AUX).
© Consult the operating instructions for the
other components.
¢ Set one of the switches to ''ON."'
¢ Connect securely.
e Adjust
BALANCE
control
to
center
position.
¢ Set switch correctly
(See section '"RECORDING TAPES").
® Reconnect properly.
© Consult the operating instructions for the
tape deck.
e Set the switch to OFF.
Can't perform tape copying.
Unit cannot be operated.
(No sound. Buttons do
not function.)
© The position of the REC SELECTOR switch
is incorrect.
¢ Operation of tape decks is incorrect.
¢ Set the switch correctly
(See section ''COPYING TAPES").
© Consult the operating instructions for the
tape decks.
Power cord is connected to a wall outlet, but
LEDs on the front panel do not light. No
sound output.
Disconnect the power cord and re-connect
after a few seconds.
