Change in pigmentation
The Homelight appliance targets the hair roots, in particular the pigmented cells of the bulb. Nonetheless,
there is a risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increase in the brown pigmentation or discolouration)
or hypopigmentation (whitening) of the surrounding skin. The risk of change in pigmentation is higher
among people with darker skin.
Generally, the change in pigmentation and the discolouration are temporary. Cases of permanent
hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation are rare.
Excessive redness and swelling
In some rare cases, treated skin may become very red and swollen. This reaction is more common on
sensitive areas of the body. The redness and the swelling should disappear within 2 to 7 days during
which you should apply ice to the aff ected area regularly. Gentle cleaning does not pose a problem, but
you should avoid any exposure to the sun.
Infection
A skin infection is extremely rare, but may occur after a burn or a lesion of the skin caused by the
Homelight epilator.
Bruising
Very rarely, using the Homelight epilator may cause some blue or purple bruising which could last 5 to
10 days. As the blue disappears, the skin may take on a rusty colour (hyperpigmentation) that could be
permanent.
Please consult your doctor if you experience persistent discomfort or irritation during or after
the Homelight treatment.
