AUSTRIALPIN SHOCK ABSORBER for
carabiner COLT
Installation:
Step 1: Open the gate halfway and slide the
shock absorber (=also abrasion protector)
backwards in a circular movement along the
carabiner. The hole in the shock absorber
must be slid above the nose of the carabiner.
see figure 12 Then check whether the
carabiner is correctly closed.
Step 2: Clip the gate onto the frame of the
carabiner. see figure 2
When it is correctly latched, a „click" noise
can be heard.
Dismantlement: Press the nose of the
shock absorber downwards until it releases
from the carabiner.
Climate for use:
The permanent utilization temperature of the
(dry) product is approximately -10°C to
+40°C.
Product life:
ATTENTION: Unusual conditions can limit
the product life of this tool to none usage,
e.g. contact with chemicals, extreme
temperatures – particularly if getting iced
up, saline/acid atmosphere, sharp edges,
severe fall, extreme burden. The product life
depends in large part on the manner and
frequency of the product's use, together
with external influences. Products made
of synthetic fibers (polyamid, polyester,
dyneema, aramide) are sensitive
to a certain aging process (even if not in
use), which is dependent on ultraviolet
radiation and environmental, climatic
influences. The actual product life of the
product terminates when
at least one of the following criteria are met
(see point "End of Use" below) and depends
on a series of different factors: intensity
of use, frequency of use, environmental
conditions during use, competence of user,
storage conditions, maintenance, etc.
The maximum life under optimal storage
conditions and without use is 12 years from
the date of manufacture. The maximum
duration of use is:
- with intensive use (e.g. in rental): 2 years
from first use
- with very infrequent use, 200 climbing
days or 5 years from first use - whichever
comes first.
For FERRATA.BLOC with integrated strap
energy absorber applies:
The storage period before the first use
without reduction of the maximum service
life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
End of Use:
In the following cases, the equipment should
immediately be removed:
- The equipment fails to pass the check-test
(both before each use, during use and in
regularly conducted test examinations)
- If the product has been exposed to strong,
high burdens (unless perfect and assured
use can be verified by a professional person)
- The history of its use is unknown or
incomplete
- In case damages, deformation or abrasion
of the metal parts and/or stitched seams are
observed
- If edges of straps are damaged or stitching
is pulled out of the strap
- If shock absorbers are released; evident
when blue stitching becomes visible
- It has come into contact with chemicals or
electricity
- You have doubts about the reliability of the
equipment
- The product is too old (or legal
requirements have changed, norms and
technical standards have been altered, new
