(Art. AS00FB)
Tested according to PSA regulation, not
according to EN 958!
In steep or difficult passages, the FERRATA.
BLOC is used for added safety as a „third
arm" of the via ferrata set to make a
potential free fall as short as possible. It
blocks immediately whenever being attached
to the taut steel cable and getting overloaded
downwards (parallel to steel cable).
Thereby, a possible fall as far as the interim
secured spot is prevented. In flat passages it
can be clipped onto the climbing harness (in
a material loop).
ATTENTION: This applies only to the
independent device FERRATA.BLOC (Art.
AS00FB)
See figure 3 with the black arm and
integrated shock absorber which is directly
attached to the belay loop of the climbing
harness - NOT for the HYDRA-Set (Art.
AS93CS2) with YELLOW arm!
WARNING: The FERRATA.BLOC does not
replace the via ferrata set! You must
never be secured with only the FB! This is
a supplementary device and must be used
exclusively in combination with a CE-tested
via ferrata set!
It is expressly pointed out that the FERRATA.
BLOC is not meant for falls, but rather (and
solely) to prevent falls. Damaged shock
absorbers cannot be exchanged.
ATTENTION: Only load the FERRATA.BLOC
in its locking position in a vertical downward
direction. Rotating movements on the steel
cable under load may cause the FERRATA.
BLOC to unintentionally unhook.
The FB cannot be used on every via ferrata!
The via ferrata construction demands the
following pre-requisites:
- 12 to 16mm diameter of steel cable, which
- is fixed on both sides and must be slightly
taut.
For other cable diameters or non-taut
cables, the FB does not function! Before each
steep passage, make sure whether the FB
can be used (Attention: sometimes varying
cable diameters are used in one single via
ferrata).
Correct attachment:
Fix the FERRATA.BLOC via the attachment
loop to the belay loop on your climbing
harness with a cow hitch. Eventually, there
are 2 cow hitches on the belay loop of the
climbing harness: one for the via ferrata
set and one for the FERRATA. BLOC. see
figure 8
Use of FERRATA.BLOC:
- Move the pressure lever of the clamp to
attach and detach the device.
- The FB is marked in both color and script:
The silver-colored side must always face
up (marking: "this side up" - also during
descents! see figure 9
This is the only way the FB can slide along
and block if overloaded.
- The FB led upwards above the carabiner
and above the hand on the steel cable.
Sequence from top, downwards:
FB – both carabiners – hand on steel cable.
see figure 10
- The carabiners must never be above the
FB, since this could release the clamped
position through the carabiner weight. see
figure 11
- Make sure the FB clamp is closed correctly.
see figure 9
- Always climb below the FB clamp. Make
sure the FB arm is always as taut as
possible.
