15. TROUBLESHOOTING
Below is a list of some of the possible malfunctions.
If the problem cannot be resolved as described, contact Customer Services.
PROBLEM
No espresso is delivered
The espresso coffee drips from the edges
of the filter holder rather than the holes
The pump is excessively noisy
The espresso is cold
The espresso crema is too light (delivered
from the spout too fast)
POSSIBLE CAUSE
No water in the tank
The holes in the filter holder are blocked
The espresso boiler outlet is blocked
Scale/hard water deposits in the water
circuit
The tank is not correctly in place and the
valve on the bottom is not open
The filter holder is inserted incorrectly
The holes in the filter holder spouts are
blocked
The water tank is empty
The tank is not correctly in place and the
valve on the bottom is not open
The "Espresso ON/OFF" integrated light
was flashing when the coffee button was
pressed
No preheating was done
The cups were not preheated
Scale/hard water deposits in the water
circuit
The pre-ground coffee is not pressed
down firmly enough
There is not enough pre-ground coffee
The pre-ground coffee is too coarse
The wrong type of pre-ground coffee is
being used

SOLUTION
Fill the tank with water
Clean the filter holder spout holes
Clean as described in the section "13.3
Cleaning the boiler outlet"
Perform the descaling procedure as de-
scribed in the section "14.1 Descaling
the espresso unit"
Press the tank down lightly to open the
valve on the bottom
Attach the filter holder correctly and ro-
tate firmly as far as it will go
Clean the spout holes.
Fill the tank
Press the tank down lightly to open the
valve on the bottom
Wait until the "Espresso ON/OFF" inte-
grated light stop flashing
Preheat as described in the section "8.1
Preheating the coffee unit"
Heat the cups by rinsing them in hot
water
Perform the descaling procedure as de-
scribed in the section "14.1 Descaling
the espresso coffee unit"
Press the pre-ground coffee down more
firmly (fig. 18)
Increase the quantity of pre-ground
coffee
Use only pre-ground coffee for espresso
makers
Change the type of pre-ground coffee
loading
