5. Commissioning, operation
9. Place the upper body of the diaphragm seal on the lower body of the diaphragm seal
with an exact fit, without tilting and without damaging the sensitive diaphragm.
10. Position the required fastening parts (see indicative image above) and mount them
hand-tight, one after the other.
11. Tighten the screw connections diagonally, step-by-step, with the prescribed tightening
torque. The operator is responsible for ensuring that the tightening torque is correctly
designed and observed, see chapter 3.4.
5.2 Further mounting steps
Depending on the version, further mounting steps may need to be completed.
If applicable:
Mount M10 eye bolts in accordance with DIN 580 for hoists.
■
Mount the plug screw(s) of the flushing connection(s).

5.3 Commissioning
First, the diaphragm seal system with model 990.45 should be pressurised with the
process pressure by slowly opening the shut-off valves. It is recommended to bring the
process to operating temperature only after the operating pressure has been reached.
WARNING!
Hot medium and hot surfaces during operation
The model 990.45 is designed for medium temperatures up to
450 °C [842 °F], depending on the application.
Risk of burns from escaping medium in the event of a leaking flange
■
connection
Risk of burns when touching the hot surfaces of the diaphragm seal
■
system
▶
Wear suitable protective clothing
▶
Check the leak tightness of the flange connections
▶
Provide protection against contact (e.g. shut-off)
▶
After reaching the operating conditions (pressure and temperature),
retighten all the screw connections of the flanges to the prescribed tight-
ening torque.
The components of the diaphragm seal system must not be provided with thermal insula-
tion so that the permissible temperature at the measuring instrument is maintained.
