POWER SUPPLY
1.
Plug the supplied AC power cord into the AC POWER socket on the back of this. Connect the AC Power Cod to
your AC household mains outlet and switch on the mains supply. Make sure the voltage is compatible.
2.
Always remember to disconnect the power cord from the mains supply before disconnecting the lead from the unit.
3.
Disconnect the power cord from the mains when not in use.
BATTERY OPERATION
1.
Open the battery compartment and insert 4 x UM-1 batteries (D cell or equivalent) following the polarity diagram
shown in the battery compartment of the unit.
2.
Batteries should be removed from the compartment if the unit is not to be used for some time.
3.
Flat batteries should be removed from the unit to avoid leakage.
4.
Remove mains lead from AC Socket when unit is on battery supply. Battery power is automatically disconnected
when the AC lead is connected to the AC Socket.
RADIO OPERATION
1.
Set the FUNCTION Selector (5) to the "RADIO" position.
2.
Tune to the desired radio station by tuning the TUNING Control (7).
3.
Adjust the VOLUME (4) control to the preferred level.
4.
Set the FUNCTION Selector (5) to the "TAPE" position to turn off the radio.
ANTENNA
For FM reception there is a built-in TELESCOPIC Antenna (3) at the rear of the unit. Extend the antenna
and move it around to obtain the best reception.
HI/LOW TONE CONTROL
Slide the switch to HI or LOW to select the desired tone control.
INSERTION AND REMOVAL OF CASSEETTES
Press the Stop / Eject key to open the cassette door.
Slip your cassette tape into the door, with the exposed section uppermost and the playback side facing you. Close the
cassette door securely.

When finished, press Stop / Eject key to open the cassette door, and retrieve your cassette tape.
PLAYBACK
1.
Set the FUNCTION Selector (5) to the "TAPE" position.
2.
Insert your cassette tape. Press the Play key to active playback.

Use the Pause key whenever you want to suspend playback.

Press the Stop / Eject key when finish. Otherwise the tape will stop automatically when the end of the tape is
reached.
RECORDING
This unit has automatically level control circuitry. This means that the recording level is set automatically. The volume or
tone controls will not affect the recording.
Record key will not be pressed down when the record prevention tab is broken or removed from the tape.
RECORDING FROM THE RADIO
1.
Set the FUNCTION Selector (5) to the "RADIO" position.
2.
Tune in your station using the TUNING Control (7) and put in your black cassette tape in the cassette compartment
(8).
3.
Press the Record key and the Play key at the same time to start recording.
4.
Press the Stop / Eject key when finished. Otherwise the tape will stop automatically when the end of the tape is
reached
RECORDING FROM THE BUILT-IN MICROPHONRE
1.
Set the FUNCTION Selector (5) to the "TAPE" position.
2.
Put in your black cassette tape in the cassette compartment (8).
3.
Press the Record key and the Play key at the same time.
4.
The tape recorder is now recording from the microphone (6).
5.
No sound will come through the speakers while you are recording.
HEADPHONES
Headphones should have a 3.5mm diameter plug and should be connected to the HEADPHONE Socket (3). When
headphones are connected, the speakers are automatically disconnected.
WARNING
Disconnect the mains plug from the supply socket when not in use. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not remove the
cover of the unit. There are no user serviceable parts inside. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this unit to
rain or moisture. Do not immerse in water or any other liquid. Do not operate this unit if the mains lead is damaged. The
mains lead must be replace by the manufacturer or its appointed agent.
DRIPPING & VENTILATION WARNING
The product shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be
placed on the product. The normal ventilation of the product shall not be impeded for intended use.
