Equipment must be maintained in good condition, operated correctly and regularly inspected. Any
necessary repairs must be carried out immediately. Repairs which may affect the explosion pro-
tection of a piece of equipment must only be carried out by the manufacturer.
Electrical conductivity can be changed by the depositing of hindering substances and also by chemi-
cal and mechanical influences, in such a way that the permitted values laid down in the standards are
exceeded. In particular, dust, dirt, paint, acids and alkalis can reduce or completely prevent the con-
duction of electrical/electrostatic energy to the floor.
The flooring in potentially explosive areas must be electrically conductive and kept clean.
Because there are so many unknown factors affecting the use of our products, our warranty with re-
spect to electrical conductivity relates exclusively to compliance with the permitted values laid down in
the standards in new condition on delivery. The user is fully responsible for ensuring constant obser-
vation of technical safety regulations such as compliance with the values for electrical conductivity in
use. Check effectiveness at regular intervals.
Check that the coating on the load bearing parts of the equipment is in perfect condition. If corrosion
is present, the equipment may not be used.
Storage requirements as per TRGS 510 must be observed.
When using the forklift attachment in an Ex zone, only electrically conductive or dissipative drums
may be used. All objects which come into contact with the forklift attachment must be electrically con-
ductive or dissipative.
When picking up containers (eg a drum from a wooden pallet) consider any static charge present and
the resulting dangers. Suitable equipotential bonding must be ensured. Observe TRBS 2153.
Move up to the drum slowly, pick it up and ensure when doing so that you keep well below a speed of
1m/sec (3.6 km/h).
Regularly check the equipment for damage, corrosion and dirt. Remedy these faults immediately. Do
-
not apply any additional paint to the equipment.
Check regularly that all mounting and safety components are securely mounted.
-
When replacing components, only use DENIOS original replacement parts. Using unsuitable re-
-
placement parts will invalidate Ex suitability and forfeit the warranty.
Change fittings only outside of the Ex zone, eg when fitting another drum gripper. This also applies to
maintenance, cleaning and adjustment operations.
Regularly check the bearings and grease if necessary.
3. Application and intended use
The SK drum clamp is a forklift attachment for picking up and transporting various types of steel and plas-
tic drum:
The operator must ensure that the equipment is suitable for the actual drums to be transported.
4. Technical data
Load capacity: 300 kg
Permitted operating temperature / ambient temperature: -10° to 40°C
5. Setting up and initial operation
Only suitable forklift trucks must be used. The centre of gravity of the load is to be determined
and it must be ensured, using the loading diagram for the forklift truck, that the load can be
lifted safely. The forks must be at least as long as the forklift pockets of the drum clamp.
Place the drum clamp in front of the forklift truck and align the fork spacing to the distance be-
tween the pockets on the clamp (3). Loosen the attachment bolts (4).
Pick up the drum clamp with the forklift truck.
