7 Annex
7.1 Limitations
Encoders with cable outlet
Due to the cable material (PVC as standard), encoders with
direct cable outlet can only be used up to -30°C [-22°F]. If you
need a wider temperature range, please contact us.
7.1.1 Definition Temperature Measurement
Under specific conditions, the maximum permissible ambient
temperature must be limited. Therefore one also refers for
encoders to a maximum operating temperature, which is
composed of several components.
An encoder is a mechatronic system that heats up differently
according to the variant. For critical applications close to the
maximum values, determine the actual temperature of the en-
coder in operation.

NOTICE
Both the ambient temperature and the mechanical and elec-
trical self-heating are included when measuring the temperat-
ure on the flange.. Therefore, the temperature measured on
the flange gives the operating temperature of the encoder.
Comply with the maximum ambient temperature
When using explosion-protected encoders, pay attention to
the restricted ambient temperature of -20°C ... +60 °C [-4°F ...
+140°F]
Temperature range of connectable components
When choosing the accessories, in particular the connectors,
observe the maximum temperature of these components.
