SPARK ARRESTER SERVICE (Equipped type only)
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100 hours to keep it
functioning as designed.
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot. Allow the
muffler to cool before servicing the spark arrester.
1. Loosen the 5 mm hex bolt with a hexagon wrench, then remove the
top cover (see page 32).
2. Remove the 4 mm screws from the spark arrester, and remove the
spark arrester from the muffler.

3. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester
screen. Be careful to avoid damaging the screen.
The spark arrester must be free of breaks and holes. Replace the
spark arrester if it is damaged.
4. Install the spark arrester in the reverse order of disassembly.
When you attach the spark arrester, spark arrester's outlet must be
opposite side of the spark plug.
5. Install the top cover, and tighten the 5 mm hex socket bolt with a
hexagon wrench securely (see page 32).
