handle is tight.
Screw the side handle (3) tightly into one of the threaded
mounting holes of the gear case.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
turn unit off and remove the battery pack before making
any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or
accessories. An accidental start-up can cause injury.
Fitting and removing the guard (Fig. F, G)
The tool is supplied with a guard intended for grinding
purposes and cutting purposes. Ensure you use the correct
guard specific for the intended operation. If the unit is intended
to perform cutting off operations, a guard (5a, Fig G) specific
for this operation must be fitted .
Fitting
Place the tool on a table, with the spindle (11) facing up.
u
Release the clamping lock (12) and hold the guard (5)
u
over the tool as shown.
Align the lugs (13) with the notches (14).
u
Press the guard down and rotate it counterclockwise to
u
the required position.
Fasten the clamping lock (12) to secure the guard to the
u
tool.
If required, tighten the screw (15) to increase the clamping
u
force.
Removing
Release the clamping lock (12).
u
Rotate the guard clockwise to align the lugs (13) with the
u
notches (14).
Remove the guard from the tool.
u
Warning! Never use the tool without the guard.
Flanges and Wheels (Fig. H, I)
Warning! Turn unit off and remove the battery pack before
making any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or
accessories.
Mounting Non-Hubbed Wheels
Warning! Failure to properly seat the flanges and/or wheel
could result in serious injury (or damage to the tool or wheel).
Warning! Included flanges must be used with depressed
center Type 27 grinding wheels. See the Accessories Chart for
more information.
Warning! Use of a damaged flange or guard or failure to
use proper flange and guard can result in injury due to wheel
breakage and wheel contact. See the Accessories Chart for
more information.
Depressed center Type 27 grinding wheels must be used with
included flanges.

(Original instructions)
Place the tool on a table, guard up.
u
Install the unthreaded backing flange (17) on spindle (11)
u
with the raised center (pilot) facing the wheel.
Place wheel (18) against the backing flange, centering the
u
wheel on the raised center (pilot) of the backing flange.
While depressing the spindle lock button (4) , thread the
u
threaded locking flange (16) on spindle.
Note: If the wheel you are installing is more than 3.17 mm
thick, place the threaded clamp nut on the spindle so that the
raised section (pilot) fits into the center of the wheel. If the
wheel you are installing is 3.17 mm thick or less, place the
threaded clamp nut on the spindle so that the raised section
(pilot) is not against the wheel.
To remove the wheel, depress the spindle lock button and
u
loosen the threaded locking flange.
Mounting Wire Cup Brushes and Wire Wheels
Warning! Failure to properly seat the brush/wheel could result
in serious injury (or damage to the tool or wheel).
Warning! To reduce the risk of personal injury, wear work
gloves when handling wire brushes and wheels. They can
become sharp.
Warning! To reduce the risk of damage to the tool, wheel or
brush must not touch guard when mounted or while in use.
Undetectable damage could occur to the accessory, causing
wires to fragment from accessory wheel or cup.
Wire cup brushes or wire wheels install directly on the
threaded spindle without the use of flanges. Use only wire
brushes or wheels provided with a threaded hub. These ac-
cessories are available at extra cost from your local dealer or
authorised service center.
Place the tool on a table, guard up.
u
Thread the wheel on the spindle by hand.
u
Depress spindle lock button (4) and use a wrench on the
u
hub of the wire wheel or brush to tighten the wheel.
To remove the wheel, reverse the above procedure.
u
Note: To reduce the risk of damage to the tool, properly seat
the wheel hub before turning the tool on.
Correct hand position (Fig. J)
Warning! To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
ALWAYS use correct hand position as shown.
Warning! To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
ALWAYS hold securely in anticipation of a sudden reaction.
Correct hand position requires one hand on the side handle
(3) , with the other hand on the body of the tool.
Lock on button
The tool can be locked on for continuous use by squeezing
the paddle switch (2) and depressing the lock on button (1).
Hold the lock on button as you gently release the paddle
switch.
