SCARIFYING

Scarifying is important to maintain lawn beautiful. When scarifying, land is broken up and the
layer of felt and moss that asphyxiates lawn eliminated thus allowing roots to benefit from air
and allowing a better water circulation. Scarifying must be done at least twice a year.
• REGULATING DEPTH OF OPERATION
The recommended depth for a well-preserved, stone-free terrain is 3 mm.
Depth of operation may be adjusted using the height adjusting lever (Fig. 7). It has six
positions for you to choose depending on blade wear and the depth of operation you
wish to apply: if you wish greater depth, place the lever on a lower position.
NOTE: In stony terrain do not allow blades to go deep into the ground. Place the
lever on an upper position.
Always conduct this operation with the engine and blades stopped.
• STARTING TO WORK
In order to use blades once the engine is working, you must press the pull-rod (Fig. 5)
so that blades rotate. Without releasing the safety stop handle, press this rod using the
other hand. The pull-rod is fitted with a system that makes unnecessary to exert force
to hold it. As long as this rod is against the handle, it will hold the safety stop handle.
When blades start to rotate, the scarifier itself begins to move forward, thus making
almost unnecessary to push it for operation.
If we wish to stop the blades but not the engine, hold the safety stop handle with your
left handle and release the pull-rod.
