3. Construct the Stud Framing
- Measure the receptor to determine the size of the stud walls. The apron of the receptor should be flush with the
ends of the stud wall. Construct one side and the back wall.
- Position the rough drain plumbing.
- Provide double stud support for the shower door wall jambs. Expanding wall anchors will not provide adequate
support for the shower door assembly. Install the double stud wall jamb supports plumb for proper shower door
installation.
- If grab bars will be installed, provide backing within the framing.
4. Install the Receptor
- Install the drain to the receptor according to the drain manufacturer's instructions. Do not connect the trap at this
time.
- Clean the receptor to reduce the risk of surface damage.
- Use a drop cloth or similar material to protect the enameled surface of the receptor.
- Carefully move the receptor into the stud pocket.
- Be sure the bottom of the receptor is firmly supported against the floor. Some framing adjustments may be
necessary. Shim if necessary. However, no additional support is required.
- Make sure the receptor is level. The receptor must be level to ensure proper installation.
- Connect the drain to the trap.
- Install the final stud wall.
- Rough in the shower valving and supply connections. Strap the supply connections to the stud framing.
- Provide access to the connections for future plumbing maintenance.
