contains important instructions that should be
followed during installation, operation, and
maintenance of the product.
This is the safety alert symbol. When you
see this symbol on your pump or in this manual,
look for one of the following signal words and
be alert to the potential for personal injury!

DC Motors
1. DC motors must be connected to a fully
charged automotive, tractor or marine type
battery of the proper voltage.
2. Life expectancy of the motor is 500 to
1000 hours.

1. This equipment is only for use with an
automotive, tractor or marine type battery fully
charged to 12 Volts DC.

battery is short circuited.
2. Know the pump application, limitations, and
potential hazards.
3. Do not use this pump in water with
fish present.
4. Release all pressure within the system before
servicing any component.
5. Drain all water from the system
beforeservicing.
6. Secure the discharge line before starting
the pump. An unsecured discharge line can
whip, possibly causing personal injury and/or
property damage.
7. Check hoses for weak or worn condition
before each use, making certain all
connections are secure.
8. Periodically inspect the pump and system
components. Keep free of debris and foreign
objects. Perform routine maintenance as
required. See Maintenance.
9. Provide a means of pressure relief for
pumps whose discharge line can be shut-off
or obstructed.
10. Personal Safety:
a. Wear safety glasses at all times when
working with the pumps.
b. Keep work area clean, uncluttered and
properly lighted.
c. Keep visitors at a safe distance from the
work area.
d. Make the workshop child-proof – with
padlocks, master switches, and by
removing starter keys.
11. When wiring a DC pump, follow all of the
electrical and safety codes that apply.
12. All wiring is to be 12 gauge stranded copper
wire that is:
A. Water resistant
B. Oil resistant
C. Flame resistant

NOTICE This pump is equipped with a

permanent magnet type 12 Volt reversible
DC motor. Be sure it is connected properly as
illustrated for the direction of flow indicated by
the arrows on the pump case (see Figure 1).
