Connecting a digital
component (OPTICAL)
When you connect an MD deck or another
digital component through the DIGITAL (CD)
OUT OPTICAL connector, you can make a
digital recording.
Use an optical digital cable for this connection.
When connecting the optical digital cable to the
DIGITAL (CD) OUT OPTICAL connector,
push the cable plug in until it clicks into place.
Be careful not to bend or twist the optical cable.

Note
Only the audio signals of conventional CDs can be
output from the DIGITAL (CD) OUT connectors.
Those of the Super Audio CD cannot be output through
the DIGITAL (CD) OUT connectors.
Connecting the AC power
cord (mains lead)
Connect the supplied AC power cord (mains
lead) to the AC IN terminal on the player and to
the wall outlet.
A several space is left between the plug and the
rear panel even when the power cord (mains
lead) is inserted firmly. The cord is supposed be
connected this way. This is not a malfunction.
Note
Install this system so that the power cord can be
unplugged from the wall socket immediately in the
event of trouble.
When using another Sony CD
player in conjunction with this
player
The following procedure applies only when you
have a CD1/CD2-switchable Sony remote.
Switch the remote command modes of this
player and the other Sony player to enable use of
the other Sony CD player with this player, using
the same remote.
Note
The command mode of the remote supplied with this
player is CD1 (fixed). If you set this player to CD2, this
player will not accept its own remote signal.
