6. Commissioning, operation
6.12 Removal and installation of the replacement sensor
Fully disconnect the electrical connections to the terminal block or transmitter.
■
Loosen the neck tube to allow the thermocouple sensor to freely move. Guide the sensor
■
inside the furnace during removal.
Locate the tube clips and bend at the open end away from the tube. The thermocouple
■
EN
sensor should slide out from under the tube clip.
Slide out the thermocouple sensor from the heat shield. Remove the sensor from the
■
furnace.
Compare the corresponding replacement sensor with the length of the removed sensor.
■
Ensure there is enough MI cable to reach the termination box, perform any on-site
bending and expansion loops as required.
Prepare the new sensor to insert into the heat shield. Insert the sensor into the heat
■
shield opening and ensure it bottoms out inside the guide channel.
WARNING!
Ensure that the thermocouple tip is fully inserted into the guide channel prior to
putting it under the tube clips. Mark the sensor for insertion length, if necessary.
Place the thermocouple sensor under the tube clips. Force tube clips down after the
■
thermocouple positioning to ensure good sensor to tube contact.
Assemble instrument neck tube as per the installation requirement. If applicable, attach
■
the connection head. Route the thermocouple sensor to the termination location and
complete electrical connection.
6.13 Electrical connection
CAUTION!
Damage to cables, wires and
■
Flying leads with bare ends must be finished with ferrule ends (cable

preparation).
The electrical connection is to be made according to the sensor connections/pin
assignments shown below:
