2. Loosen the knobs that hold the filter cover and lift off
the cover.
3. Lift the end of the air filter to remove it.
4. Hit the paper filter against a hard surface to clean it.
Do not use compressed air.
5. If the paper filter does not become clean, replace it.
6. Put the air filter back on the air hose.
7. Push the air filter into correct position.
8. Attach the air filter cover and tighten the knobs.
To examine and replace the spark plug
1. Open the engine cover.
2. Remove the ignition cable shoe and clean around
the spark plug.
3. Remove the spark plug with a ⅝ʺ (16 mm) spark
plug wrench.
4. Examine the spark plug. Replace it if the electrodes
are burned or if the insulation has cracks or
damages. If the spark plug is not damaged, clean it
with a steel brush.

5. Measure the electrode gap and make sure that it is

6. Bend the side electrode to adjust the electrode gap.
7. Put the spark plug back in and turn it by hand until it
touches the spark plug seat.
8. Tighten the spark plug with the spark plug wrench
until the washer is compressed.
9. Tighten a used spark plug ⅛ of a turn more, and a
new spark plug ¼ turn more.
CAUTION: Spark plugs that are not
tightened correctly can cause damage to
the engine.
10. Replace the ignition cable shoe.
CAUTION: Do not try to start the engine
if the spark plug or ignition cable is
removed.
To replace the main fuse
A blown fuse is identified by a burned connector.
1. Open the engine cover. The main fuse is in a holder
in front of the battery.
2. Pull the fuse from the holder.
3. Replace the blown fuse with a new fuse of the same
type, flat pin 15 A.
4. Replace the covers.
If the main fuse blows again a short period after you
replace it, there is a short circuit. Repair the short circuit
before you operate the product again. Let an approved
service agent help you.
To charge the battery

Charge the battery if it is too weak to start the
engine.
•
Use a standard battery charger.
