DYNAMIC CHAMBER & BELLOWS
8. Remove the piston seal (19) and set it into the block.
The seal should be examined for possible damage.
Now remove the piston retaining bolt (18) and seal
(17) and slide the piston (16) off the rod (10).
9. Remove the four socket head cap screws (15) that
secure the chamber (13) to the air motor cover plate
(6). Remove the dynamic chamber (13) by carefully
guiding it over the bellows (11). Place the chamber
aside with the four screws. Replace the four dynamic
chamber screw seals (14) during re-assembly.
10. The material accumulators can be left on the dynamic
chambers. However, the accumulator parts (29, 31, 32,
33, 34) should be inspected and replaced if necessary.
11. Remove the bellows retaining nut (12) and remove
bellows (11) from the shaft (10).
Slide alignment ring (9) off shaft (10).
NOTE
Bellows may need to be cut from the shaft.
AIR MOTOR
12. With an extended hex socket key, remove the pilot
valve assembly (43) by removing the socket head cap
screws (44). Remove the three o-ring seals (40).
AIR MOTOR
1. When re-assembling air logic seals and o-rings in the
air control valve and the pilot valves use only factory
approved grease: Binks part number 41-4458-K.
2. If new air motor shaft seals (7) and wear rings (8) are
required, install them into the air motor end plates (6).
No lubrication is required. The orientation of the shaft
seals is shown on p. 11.
3. The air motor piston seal (3) is a 2-piece seal. It is
designed for long life. If a new seal is required, install
as shown on p. 11. No lubrication is required.
SECTION 5.3 – DISASSEMBLY
13. Remove the pushrod (42) and pushrod seal (41) from
the air motor cover plate (6) and inspect the seal for
wear. Note orientation of pushrod seal shown on p. 11.
14. The disassembly of the pilot valve is necessary on
an occasional basis to check for possible wear and
damage (refer to Part Sheet 77-2799).
15. Remove the air control valve (47) by removing the
four socket head cap screws (48). Careful removal will
prevent the possible loss of o-ring seals that may fall out.
16. To disassemble the air control valve refer to Part Sheet
77-2799.
17. The air motor cover plate (6) is held to the air motor
with ten hex head cap screws (39). With the screws
removed, the cover plate can then be slid off the piston
rod (10). Be careful not to damage the shaft seals (7)
and wear rings (8) housed in the air motor cover
plate bore.
18. The air motor shaft seals (7) and wear rings (8)
located in the air motor cover plate bore should seldom
carefully remove the existing seals and wear rings
require replacement. When replacement is required,
with a pick.
19. Pull or push the air piston assembly (2,3,4,10) at a
slight angle from the air cylinder (1). Inspect the
piston seal (3) for excessive wear or damage and
replace if required.
SECTION 5.4 – RE-ASSEMBLY
4. Insert air piston assembly (2,3,4,10) at a slight angle
into the air motor cylinder (1), then straighten.
Pre-lubricate and carefully install the cover plate
o-rings (5, 45). Be sure that they are seated firmly.
The bolts should be tightened snugly (10 ft-lb) do not
over tighten.
5. Insert the pilot valve push rod making sure that it is
seated properly. Pre-lubricate the o-rings (40) and cup
seals (41) using factory approved grease (41-4458-K)
and install. See p. 11 for orientation of the pushrod cup
seals (39).
