COLD START refers to the ability of a UPS to be turned on in battery mode for temporary
operation during a power failure. To cold start your UPS, press and hold the ON button until
a beep is heard, then release. COLD START DISABLE is available on a one-time basis to
prevent unintended startup while the UPS is in storage or transit. Once COLD START is set
to DISABLE, the UPS cannot be cold started again until it is next connected to an outlet
with valid AC output. To DISABLE COLD START for shipping or storage, enter the UPS SETUP
menu when the UPS is running in BATTERY MODE and select DISABLE (the cold start option
cannot be disabled in other modes). Next, press and hold the OFF button and package the
UPS for shipment and storage.
Note: COLD START DISABLE cannot be set when the UPS is connected to a live AC receptacle. If COLD START
DISABLE is attempted when the UPS is connected to live AC input, the LCD screen will report "WILL BE ENABLED
WITH VALID AC" to confirm that the seeting has not been accepted. If COLD START DISABLE is selected as the UPS
runs in BATTERY MODE, the UPS will accept the DISABLE setting and automatically reset to ENABLE cold start the
next time valid AC input voltage is detected.

BATTERY TEST refers the ability of the UPS to perform regular self-tests of the battery
system. During BATTERY TEST operation, the UPS will momentarily cycle to Battery Mode
and alert users of potential UPS operational or battery-related fault conditions. The factory
configuration of MONTHLY is ideal for most applications. Options for WEEKLY and DISABLE
settings are also available.

EXTERNAL BATTERY TYPE refers to the ability for the UPS to become aware of which external
battery pack is connected to enhance accuracy of the MINUTES RUNTIME countdown during
a power failure. The LCD interface supports the addition of a single external battery pack by
selecting the part number of the battery system using the LCD screen. Your UPS system can
also be configured for additional battery pack models or multiple battery packs when
supported, but these configurations require the use of EXTERNAL BATTERY CONFIGURATION
TOOL software available in the support section of http://www.tripplite.com/bpconfig.
