Align support "6" and reinforcement "7" in the left frame side member and mark positions "d" on
the vehicle body. Drill two Ø 15 mm holes and deburr them.
Insert fishplate "5" at positions "d" and bolt loosely using M 10 locknuts.

Insert support "3" and reinforcement "4" into the right frame side member. Insert the hexagon
bolt together with the washer at position "e" and bolt the support and plate loosely to the
vehicle. Insert fishplate "5" at positions "c" and bolt loosely using locknuts.
8.)
Place seal "2" centred on the stub on the top of CBB "1". Hold CBB "1" under the vehicle
and align the holes at the ends of the CBB with holes "a" and "b". Insert the hexagon bolts
together with the washers at positions "a" and "b" and bolt the CBB loosely to the vehicle.
9.)
Align the complete CBB and tighten the hexagon nuts and bolts.
a) Tighten M 12 hex. bolts

Tighten M 10 hex. nuts
Bolts of strength class 10.9 are used at positions "a" and "b"; all remaining bolts are of
strength class 8.8.
10.) Cut away the bumper in the forward lower area of the towbar as shown in the sketch (does
not apply to vehicles as of 06/97).
11.) Clean the luggage compartment and refit/replace all the parts (trim panels, jack etc.)
removed (adapt the jack bracket in the area of support "6").
12.) Affix the trailer nose-weight plate to the luggage compartment sill or inside of the luggage
compartment. Affix the "Operating removable towbar" plate at a clearly visible position in
the luggage compartment.
