6. Remove two 4mm socket head screws and upper vibration isolator (E) from
blower housing. Note the position of the limiter strap for proper reassembly.
7. Assemble the new upper and lower fan grid halves together by snapping the
upper fan grid holes onto the lower fan grid buttons.
8. Assemble brass collars into the seven fan grid mounting holes (F).
9. Attach grid assembly to fan housing using the three socket head screws (D)
removed in step 5. Tighten screws to 20-40 kg/cm.
10. Install upper vibration isolator (E) onto blower housing. Make sure the
limiter strap eyelet is captured between the vibration isolator and blower
housing. Place the small hole in the limiter strap over the isolator stud.
11. Tilt backpack frame vertical to blower housing and assemble throttle arm
assembly onto the frame hinge. Assemble hinge fixtures to backpack frame
and secure lower left hinge (throttle arm side) with two socket head tapping
screws (C), and the lower right hinge with two socket head screws and
washers (B).
12. Untie rope from elbow, and pull throttle arm tension spring out of hinge tube
hooking it over the hinge tube wall.
13. Align upper vibration isolator stud with hole in backpack frame. Apply
LocTite 642 or Three Bond 1342 to stud threads. Assemble washer and nut
and tighten to 20-40 kg/cm.
14. Assemble four socket head screws from the fan grid side through the collars
and backpack frame. Apply LocTite 642 or Three Bond 1342 to screw
threads, install four 8mm flange nuts from frame side, and tighten to 5-10 kg/
cm.
IMPORTANT
Do not over tighten screws otherwise plastic deformation will occur, allowing
the nuts to loosen.
