Commissioning
First make all electrical connections correctly and only then
carry out the commissioning!
▶ Follow all installation instructions for all components
and assemblies in the system.
▶ Make sure that multiple modules do not have the same
coding.
▶ Only switch on the power supply when all modules are
set up.
NOTICE: Connected pumps can start as soon as the
system is switched on unless the control unit has
detected the module.
▶ Fill the system before switching it on so that the
pumps do not run dry.
4.1

Setting coding switch I

The function of the module is set via coding switch I.

EMS plus a maximum of 4 heating circuits/zones and 2 cylinders applies
2) In UK only
Observe the following:
• System with 2-port valve (S-schematic, in UK only): coding switch I to S
• System with mid-position valve (Y-schematic, in UK only): coding
switch I to Y
• Example 1: 1 heating zone with 3 unmixed heating circuits:
– Module for heating circuits 1, 2 and 3 = coding switch I to 2
or
– Module for heating circuits 4, 5 and 6 = coding switch I to 3
• Example 2: 1 heating zone with 2 unmixed heating circuits and one
cylinder charging circuit:
– Module for heating circuits 1, 2 and cylinder charging circuit =
coding switch I to 1
or
– Module for heating circuits 7, 8 and cylinder charging circuit =
coding switch I to 4

The same heating circuit numbers must be set for each of the user
interfaces:
Example 3: system for 4 heating circuits and cylinder charging circuit, 2
MZ 100 modules are therefore required. The coding switches I can be
set to 2 and 4 at these 2 modules. This means heating circuits 1, 2, 3 and
7 are active. In this case, the 4 user interfaces (controllers) of the
heating circuits must also be coded to 1, 2, 3 and 7.
4.2

Setting the temperature switch II

WARNING: Risk of scalding!
▶ If DHW temperatures above 60 °C are set or thermal
disinfection is performed (temperature switch II
temporarily above 60 °C), a mixer must be installed.
The cylinder setpoint temperature is adjusted via temperature
switch II.

Table 9
Observe the following:
• An installed user interface C 100 instead of the module specifies the
cylinder setpoint temperature via the BUS system. The module will
only specify 15 °C (frost protection) if the cylinder setpoint
temperature is less than 15 °C: temperature switch II to off (2 valid
increment positions).
• The module specifies the cylinder setpoint temperature in 5 °C
increments from 40 °C to 70 °C: temperature switch at 40 to 70.
• The module specifies 75 °C which is the maximum cylinder setpoint
temperature:
temperature switch to max (2 valid increment positions).
4.3

Commissioning of the module and the system

1. Set the function of the module via coding switch I.
2. If the cylinder setpoint temperature is specified by the module (not
with C 100): set the cylinder temperature via temperature switch II.
-or-
If the cylinder setpoint temperature is specified via a user interface
(with C 100): set temperature switch II to off.
3. If required, set the coding switch and temperature switch at
subsequent modules.
4. Switch on the power supply (mains voltage) to the entire system.
When the module indicator lights up green continuously:
5. Commission and set up the user interface as described in the
accompanying installation instructions.
