1 Use a clean soft cloth to gently wipe off any dirt or
fingerprints from the instrument.
Occasionally you may want to soak the mouthpiece in

warm soapy water. Use a brass mouthpiece brush to scrub
inside and outside the mouthpiece, rinse thoroughly with
clean warm water.
Periodically, you will need to lubricate the inner tubes of

your hand slide. To do this, remove the outer hand slide
and apply a small amount of slide oil or slide cream to
the inner slide tubes. Spread the lubricant over the entire
surface of the inner slide tubes. Using a small spray bottle,
apply a small amount of clean water to the inner slide tube.
Insert the inner slide back into the outer hand slide. This
process may need to be done more frequently while your
trombone is new.
