Spindle Lock Activation
Activation of the spindle lock will allow both the adjustment of the guard and the changing of
the grinding wheel/disc.
To activate the spindle lock:
1.
Disconnect the grinder from the air supply
2.
Set the arbor retaining plate and the upper wheel fl ange to the position shown in Fig 1
– ensure the cut-outs are aligned.
3.
Press in the spindle lock button and maintain the pressure.
a.
The guard can now be moved to any of 10 positions – when in the correct position,
release the spindle lock button and move the guard to ensure it is locked.
b.
With the spindle lock activated the lower locking fl ange can be removed with the wheel
spanner and the grinding wheel/disc changed.
IMPORTANT - Ensure that spindle is free to turn before connecting grinder to the air supply.
Change of exhaust direction
To change from right to left exhaust:
1.
Disconnect the grinder from the air supply
2.
Unscrew the handle VT22-A48 along with the spacer VT22-58-1, bushing VT22-58-2 and
swivel bushing VT22-58-3 from the left side of the tool.
3.
Unscrew the blanking plug VT22-58-4 from the right side of the tool and replace on the
opposite side.
4.
Replace the handle VT22-A48 and its parts on the right side of the tool.
5.
Unscrew the exhaust locator screws (VT22-40-6) and remove the exhaust locator VT22-40-7.
6.
Push the exhaust defl ector sleeve (VT22-40-7) into position (see Fig 2 for left -handed
operation) and replace the exhaust locator (in reverse position) and screws.

Parts and Maintenance

When the life of the tool has expired, it is recommended that the tool be disassembled,
degreased and parts be separated by material so that they can be recycled.

Tool repair and maintenance should only be carried out by an authorized Service Center.
Refer all communications to the nearest Ingersoll Rand Offi ce or Distributor.
