In order to maintain and protect the environment, to prevent environmental contamination and to improve
the reutilisation of raw materials (recycling), the European Commission has established guidelines ac-
cording to which manufacturers must take back electrical and electronic devices in order to forward them
to a regulated disposal or recycling system�
