2.4 Installation of Microphone,Telephone Console and Fitting Connection Cable
for Charger Cradle with Hands-Free Facility on Telephone Console

Refer to general information as well as safety notes in Section 1.
The telephone console is dependent on the interior equipment and fittings and must be ordered separately in
accordance with the electronic parts catalogue (EPC).
Preparation
Remove cover at front of headliner (installation location for microphone)
Open out fold-out page!

The figure shows a vehicle with a sunroof, follow the same procedure on vehicles without a sunroof.
The plug connector for the microphone is tied back behind the headliner in the front area of the roof.
Pass existing, tied-back, black 3-pin socket housing X4221B wrapped in polyester velour from telephone
wiring harness (30) through aperture in headliner and remove polyester velour in area of black 3-pin socket
housing X4221B.
Plug black 3-pin socket housing X4221B into microphone (12) and then insert microphone (12) in cover (46).
Observe direction indicated by arrow on microphone (12).
Reinstall cover (46) in headliner in front area of roof.

Tilt removed centre console (47) a little to the side and unscrew three retaining screws (48) from
right-hand side rail (49).
Detach right-hand side rail (49) from removed centre console (47).

Remove protective film from supplied self-adhesive template (16).
Adhere self-adhesive template (16) to right-hand side rail (49) and mark holes (50) with water-soluble pen.
Remove self-adhesive template (16) again and pilot-drill holes (50) with 3.0 mm dia. twist drill and then drill out with
6.5 mm dia. twist drill.

Place telephone console (15) on prepared right-hand side rail (49) and firmly tighten with two M5x14 hexagon
screws and washers (24).
Now fit the mounted right-hand side rail (49) on the centre console and install centre console.
