GENERAL WARNINGS

Safety warnings
• During device installation, always strictly ob serve
all instructions in this manual. If in any doubt re -
garding installation, do not proceed and contact
the Nice Technical Assistance for clarifications.
• CAUTION! – Important instructions: keep these
instructions in a safe place to ena ble future
product maintenance and disposal procedures.
• CAUTION! – All installation, connection, pro-
gramming and maintenance operations must
be performed exclusively by a qualified techni-
cian!
• CAUTION! – Nemo is not to be considered a sa -
fety device that eliminates faults on the aw ning
caused by strong winds (in fact a simple power
failure would make automatic retraction of the
awning impossible). Nemo should be con si de -
red part of an automation used to safeguard
the awning and to facilitate use.
• Nice declines all liability for material damage cau sed by
atmospheric agents not detected by the device sen-
sors.
• Do not open the device protection housing as it con-
tains electrical circuits that do not require maintenance.
• Never apply modifications to any part of the de vice.
Operations other than as specified can only cause
malfunctions. The manufacturer de clines all liability for
da mage caused by makeshift modifications to the
product.
• Never place devices near to sources of heat and never
expose to naked flames. This may damage the unit and
cause malfunctions.
Other warnings
• The device is powered by a photovoltaic cell which
must be exposed to sunlight. Therefore ensure that the
2
surface of this cell is kept clean and free of leaves, snow
or other elements: clean the surface with a soft damp
cloth, avoiding the use of substances containing alco-
hol, benzene, solvents or similar.
• The product packaging material must be disposed of in
full observance of current local legislation governing
waste disposal.
1 – PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND INTEND-
ED USE
This product is part of the series of Nemo climatic sen-
sors. These are equipped with a built-in radio transmitter
with "TTS" encoding and independent solar power sup-
plied by a built-in photovoltaic cell; during the night Nemo
uses the residual power accumulated during the day,
thus eliminating the need for connection to the mains
power supply.
Nemo is designed for systems used to automate sun
awnings, shutters, skylights and similar, which implement
Nice tubular motors with "TTS" radio encoding. Any oth-
er use is to be considered improper and is strictly
prohibited! The manufacturer declines all liability for
damage resulting from improper use of the product
and other than as specified in this manual.
2 – UNIT OPERATION
Operation of Nemo is based on the detection of varia-
tions in wind speed (function present on Nemo SCT only)
or variations in the intensity of sunlight.
When the reading value exceeds the trip threshold (mo -
difiable parameter), Nemo transmits a "radio signal" to
the automation. This, in turn, activates the set ma noeuvre
according to the type of signal received.
• "Sun" sensor (fig. 8)
When the intensity of sunlight, measured by the sensor
(b - fig. 6) exceeds the threshold, after 2 minutes Nemo
transmits the Descent command to the automation.
Otherwise, when the sunlight intensity falls below the
threshold value, after 15 minutes Nemo transmits the
retraction command to the automation.
The delay intervals described above are implemented to
avoid continuous and repetitive movements of the au -
tomation in the presence of transitory clouds. As regards
the thresholds, there is a difference (hysteresis) of approx.
70% between the threshold that activates descent and
the threshold that activates retraction. For example, if the
threshold is set at 20Klux descent is activated when this
brightness value is reached, while the awning is retracted
when the value reaches approx. 14Klux.
• "Wind" sensor (fig. 7)
When the wind speed, measured by the sensor (a - fig.
6), exceeds the threshold, Nemo immediately transmits
the Up command to the automation. At the same time it
also sends a command that blocks execution of any oth-
er command sent to the automation, to protect the
awning from the wind.
When the wind speed falls below the threshold value,
after 4 minutes Nemo unblocks the awning protection to
enable other automation commands. After the system is
unblocked, if the sun threshold is exceeded, after 15 min-
utes Nemo sends the command for awning descent.
Note - During normal operation of the product, the led
remains permanently off, even when Nemo sends com-
mands.
3 – PRELIMINARY INSTALLATION CHECKS
AND PRODUCT APPLICATION LIMITS
• Read the technical specifications provided in the chap-
ter "Product technical specifications" to check the
application limits of Nemo.
• Ensure that the automation receiver on which Ne mo is
to be memorised uses "TTS" encoding (refer to the
automation receiver instruction manual).
• Nemo may not be compatible with older motors pro-
duced before June 2004 or TT0 control unit models.
• (fig. 1) Ensure that the selected installation site for
Nemo is within the range with respect to the automa-
tion to be controlled. Although the range in favourable
conditions (open field) can reach 100m, as Nemo rep-
resents a protection for the awning, a maximum range
of 10-20 m is recommended. It is also recommended
to check that there are no other radio devices in the
zone operating at the same frequency, such as alarms,
radio headphones etc.: these may reduce the range
further or even block communication between Nemo
and the automation.
• Ensure that the selected installation site for Nemo
meets the following requirements:
