Motor overload protection
All safety-related functions are handled by the hybrid motor starter without any external
influence. Special circuitry is not necessary.
If the motor currents differ from each other by ≥ 33 %, the device switches off the motor
within 2 minutes.
If the motor currents differ from each other by ≥ 67 %, (e.g. phase failure), the device
switches off the motor within 2 seconds.
The deviation can be calculated using the following formulas.

At high switching frequencies, the motor overload protection function may trip due to the
increased switch-on currents.
Symmetry detection
The motor currents are measured at phases L1 and L3 and are monitored for
symmetry.
If the motor currents differ from each other by ≥ 33 %, the device switches off the
motor within 2 minutes.
If the motor currents differ from each other by ≥ 67 %, (e.g. phase failure), the
device switches off the motor within 2 seconds.
Motor with brake
If a motor with brake (connection in the motor terminal board) is connected, the 400 V AC
brake needs to be linked to the 2/T1 and 6/T3 terminals. Connect a 230 V AC brake to the
4/T2 terminal and the star point of the motor.
Increase the motor nominal current by the brake nominal current. Set this on the hybrid
starter motor accordingly.
Auxiliary relay connection
Connect auxiliary relays for activating external brakes or responses (e.g. to the PLC) to
the system 4T2 and N terminals.
