Starting
Note
With difficult-to-start vehicles, wait three
minutes between start attempts.
▸
Never connect the device to a battery or a starter
with a short-circuit.
▸
If there is no battery in the vehicle, or the vehicle
battery is at 0 volts, never disconnect the device
when the engine is running.
▸
Never short-circuit the device.
▸
Never connect the device to a 24 V vehicle, if it is
in the 12 V setting.
12 V connection (figure
▸
First, connect the red positive clamp to the positive
terminal of the battery.
▸
Then connect the black negative clamp to the neg-
ative terminal of the battery or vehicle earth.
24 V connection:
▸
Batteries are located next to each other (figure
• First, connect the red positive clamp to the posi-
tive terminal of the battery.
• Then connect the black negative clamp to the
negative terminal or the other battery or vehicle
earth.

cle (figure

• First, connect the red positive clamp to the posi-
tive terminal of the battery.
• Then connect the black negative clamp to the
vehicle earth.
12 V operation:
▸
Check what on-board voltage the vehicle has.
▸
Connect the voltage connector to the correspond-
ing connection (figure
The terminals are live.
3
▸
Attempt to start the engine for no more than 8 to
10 seconds.
▸
Then wait three minutes before beginning another
attempt at starting.
▸
Do not try to start the engine more than three
times.
▸
Break the connection by first removing the
black negative clamp and then the red positive
clamp (figure

).
▸
After starting, unplug the mains plug (figure

Stow the cable and the clamps correctly on the
corresponding holder (figure

24 V operation:
▸
Check the vehicle's on-board voltage.
▸
Use a voltmeter in the DC setting:
• Fasten the black minus clamp to the vehicle earth
and the red positive clamp to a battery positive
terminal.
If the voltmeter does not indicate 12 V, it is NOT
3
the correct battery.
If the voltmeter indicates 24 V, it is the correct
3
battery.
▸
Now proceed as for 12 V operation.
Charging process
▸
Immediately recharge the device after every use.
▸
Never charge the 12/24 V device via the ciga-
rette lighter connection.
▸
Never completely discharge the device batteries.
▸
During charging, ensure that the clamps do not
come into contact with any metal surface.
Reverse connection
):
If the polarity is incorrect, a signal sounds:
• The signal sounds if the vehicle battery is
charged with at least 4 V and
• The voltage connector is plugged in.
Note
If the device is fully charged but the
charger only runs with a low torque, you
should use a tester to check whether
the vehicle battery or the starter has a
short-circuit.
Fuse testing method:
Note
The device is equipped with an inter-
nal 500 A fuse. This can blow, in the
event of a short-circuit or for example
after an overly long starting attempt! This
fuse is contained in the handle of the
positive clamp.
▸
).
Check the fuse using a multimeter.
Attention!
