Update procedure

• Part 1: Updating the database
Update disc 1 (about 100 minuites)
Update disc 2 (about 70 minuites)
• Part 2: Updating the firmware (about 5 minuites)
How to update your unit
Prepare the INSTRUCTIONS of KD-NXD505.
Turn on the ignition switch (either to ON or to ACC) and press
the power.
Notice for performing the update
• If route guidance is going on the system, cancel the guidance.
• Do not turn off the ignition switch during the firmware update, or the system
may not start again. In this case, call a service center. As an exception, you
may turn off the switch as described in "Suspending Update" on page 3.
• If you choose to perform the update without the engine running, i.e. the key
in the ACC position, be careful not to drain your battery if your headlights
are on for example. As a precaution, the update should be started after your
car battery is fully charged, i.e. after the engine was running for several
minutes. If you are unsure about your car battery condition, perform the
update with the engine running.
• Once update is started, you cannot use the Navigation function until the update is
completed.
• During the update, you cannot play back any discs. Suspend the update to be able
to play back the discs. See "Suspending Update" on page 3 for the procedure.
• After the update is finished, the system will perform the calibration again as after
initial installation.
• The memorized addresses ("Previous" and "Favorite") are cleared.
• The following settings are initialized: Guidance View, Day Color, Route Color,
Night Mode, Map View, Auto Zoom, POI Icon, Favorite Icon, Car Tracks, Street
Name, One-Way, Traffic Display
Improvements and changes
• The latest Map data (as of 2009/01).
• Number of POI categories selectable in the "POI Icon" setting is changed.
