Safety Instructions
Examine this protective equipment, including attachment hardware, before and after each use for
cracks, scratches, pitting, brittleness, breakage craze pattern, discoloration, or chalky appearance. If
the protective equipment shows any signs of wear or damage, replace it immediately. Always replace
the protective equipment after impact or penetration occurs.
Visors supply limited protection from impact to the eyes and face. Spectacles supply limited protection
from impact to the eyes. This protective equipment in most circumstances should supply effective
protection from conditions such as flying fragments, chips, particles, sand, and splash. Some condi-
tions such as grinding wheels that shatter or devices that explode can break the lens and cause serious
injury to the eyes or face. Do NOT use this protective equipment to go into areas where there is a risk
of impact from these dangerous objects. Do NOT use this protective equipment for protection from
electrical hazards or infrared and ultraviolet radiation.
Do NOT use mesh visors to supply protection from liquid splashes, stream jets, sand, dust, or similar
conditions. Mesh eye protectors are low-energy impact protectors that do NOT supply protection from
liquid splash (including molten metal), stream jets, hot solids, electrical hazards, sand, dust, or infrared
and ultraviolet radiation. Do NOT use mesh protectors identified with the symbol S when there is a risk
of contact with any hard or sharp flying objects. This does not apply if the product is identified with the
symbol F or higher. Do NOT use mesh visors where contact with live wires or electrical conductors is
possible. A dangerous electrical shock can occur.
Material that touches your skin can cause an allergic reaction to susceptible individuals.
Do NOT use this protective equipment as protection during welding or from other sources of infrared
radiation. Do NOT use this protective equipment for sports, simulated war games, paintball games, or
similar activities.
This PPE is for intended use only.
Always wear goggles or safety glasses with visors. Goggles and safety glasses MUST comply with the
applicable requirements of the latest revisions of EN 166:2001, EN 1731:2007, ANSI/ISEA Z87.1, and
CSA Z94.3. Wearing this protective equipment over standard ophthalmic spectacles can result in
transmission of the force of impact to the user.
Spectacles comply with the impact and other applicable requirements for safety glasses in
ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 and CSA Z94.3. Make sure that the helmet is in the center position on your head and
the fit is tight and correct according to the instructions in the V-Gard
Manual. With the spectacles in the working position, if there are gaps between your face and the spec-
tacles that could let external agents intrude and cause damage to your eyes, use safety glasses under
US
the spectacles. Safety glasses MUST comply with the applicable requirements of the latest revisions
of EN 166:2001, EN 1731:2007, ANSI/ISEA Z87.1, and CSA Z94.3. Wearing spectacles over standard
ophthalmic spectacles can result in transmission of the force of impact to the user.
Failure to obey these warnings can result in serious injury or death.
MSA visors comply with EN 166:2001, EN 1731:2007, ANSI/ISEA Z87.1, and CSA Z94.3 as identified
on the product. MSA's eye and face protection for the V-Gard H1 safety helmet satisfies the require-
ments of Regulation (EU) 2016/425. To comply with safety standards, use these products only with the
