Handbrake
Danger from uncontrolled movement! Always
apply the handbrake lever fully.
Parking
If the trailer is uncoupled from the towing ve-
hicle, then the following must be done:
the parking brake must be engaged.
the trailer must be secured with two addi-
tional chocks.
When parking or laying up the vehicle/trai-
ler combination, engage the trailer's parking
brake.
CAUTION!
The trailer may roll back 25 to 30 cm un-
til the full force of the brake takes effect!
When laying up the trailer, ensure suffi-
cient clearance.
CAUTION!
When you apply the parking brake en-
sure that it functions correctly.
Incorrect function may be noticeable by the follo-
wing:
Noticeable loss of force
The handbrake lever does not move smoothly
The handbrake is difficult to move
Loose components
On handbrake levers with gas spring support (7,
10) also by the following:
Visible corrosion or damage to the gas spring
piston rod
Visible oil loss from the gas springs
OPERATION
Hitching up tow ball hitch
1. Manoeuvre ball hitch over the towing hitch.
2. Open ball hitch and hold it.
3. Turn jockey wheel crank clockwise until ball
hitch engages.
4. Continue turning jockey wheel crank until the
wheel has turned in all the way. The support
shoe must be firmly secured in the recess in
the outside tube.
5. Open the clamping clip.
6. Pull the jockey wheel as far up as possible.

With overrun hitch type 130V, 150V
and 200V, additionally secure jockey
wheel in the cut-out in the cover
hood!
7. Tighten the clamping clip.
8. Connect the power cable to the towing vehi-
cle.
9. Guide the breakaway cable through the eye
of the breakaway cable guide.
10. Loop the snap hook through the eye provided
on the towing vehicle and clip into the cable.
11. Release the handbrake lever and remove the
chocks.
Hitching up the drawbar eye
1. Hitch up the drawbar eye in the hitch mouth.
2. Turn the jockey wheel crank clockwise until
the wheel has turned in all the way. The sup-
port shoe must be firmly secured in the recess
in the outside tube.
3. Open the clamping clip.
4. Pull the jockey wheel as far up as possible.
5. Tighten the clamping clip.
6. Connect the power cable to the towing vehi-
cle.
7. Guide the breakaway cable through the eye
of the breakaway cable guide.
8. Loop the snap hook through the eye provided
on the towing vehicle and clip into the cable.
9. Release the handbrake lever and remove the
chocks.

Handbrake lever 2,8 VB-1/C (10)
Tightening
1. Tighten the handbrake lever beyond the dead
centre area that can be felt.
