7.8 Checking the alarm systems

Important
In the case of the stenosis
alarm and the disconnec-
tion alarm, the alarm signal
(or message) is only trig-
gered when the cause of
the alarm is repeated in
two successive inspiration
phases. This prevents the
alarm being triggered by a
very short-lived dysfunc-
tion.
Important
In this test the rise in pres-
sure is so strong that the
pressure gauge needle may
overswing into the red
zone. There are technical
reasons for this, and it does
not indicate any malfunc-
tion.
Risk of injury if test bag removed
incorrectly!
If the test bag is removed incorrectly, the con-
nector of the test bag may remain on the pa-
tient's hose system. The increased airway resis-
tance on inspiration which results may injure the
patient.
When removing the test bag, always take it
off at the connector.
8. Detach the test bag from the patient valve.
Stenosis
1. Open the oxygen cylinder.
2. If necessary: Remove the tube or the ventilation
mask from the patient valve.
3. Switch on MEDUMAT Easy CPR.
4. Switch the mask/tube switch to
5. Keep the ventilation connector on the patient
valve closed with the flat of your hand during
two successive inspiration phases. The
alarm should be triggered.
If audio response is enabled, the ventilator
announces "Check airways and settings!".
6. Switch off MEDUMAT Easy CPR again.
