PLC Configuration of the Valve System

PLC Configuration of the Valve System
For the bus coupler to correctly exchange data from the modular valve system with the PLC, the PLC
must be able to detect the valve system structure. In order to represent the actual configuration
of the valve system's electrical components in the PLC, you can use the configuration software of the
PLC programming system. This process is known as PLC configuration.
You can use PLC configuration software from various manufacturers for the PLC configuration.
The descriptions in the following sections therefore focus on the basic procedure for configuring
the PLC.
Configuration error!
An incorrect valve system configuration can cause malfunctions in and damage to the overall
system.
The configuration may therefore only be carried out by qualified personnel (see section 2.4
"Personnel qualifications" on page 67).
Observe the specifications of the system owner as well as any restrictions resulting from
the overall system.
Observe the documentation of your configuration program.
You may configure the valve system on your computer without the need to connect the unit.
The data can be transferred to the system at a later time on site.

Readying the PLC configuration keys

Because the electrical components in the valve zone are situated in the base plate and cannot
be identified directly, the PLC configuration keys for the valve zone and the I/O zone are required
to carry out the configuration.
You also need the PLC configuration key when the configuration is carried out in a different location
than that of the valve system.
Note down the PLC configuration key for the individual components in the following order:
– Valve side: The PLC configuration key is printed on the name plate on the right side of the valve
system.
– I/O modules: The PLC configuration key is printed on the top of the modules.
A detailed description of the PLC configuration key can be found in section 12.4 "PLC
configuration key" on page 103.
