Your new PROTECT car seat from JANÉ is designed to protect your
child in the car, from birth to approximately 4 years of age (18 kg
in weight).
The PROTECT has passed the demanding safety tests of European
Directive ECE R44-04 for groups 0 and 1 in the rear facing position,
and group 1 in the forward facing position.
The PROTECT can be used in the majority of cars. When a car
manufacturer declares that the seats of the car are suitable for
the fitting of "Universal"-type car seats, this means they are totally
compatible.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
With the aim of ensuring that your child is adequately protected,
comfortable and properly restrained in the car,
the following instructions must be followed:
• Your PROTECT car seat may be used in the front seat, if it
does not have an Air-Bag, or back seat of the car. Even so,
you are advised to use it in the back seat.

• It is only suitable for cars equipped with automatic, three-point
anchorage seat belts approved under regulation ECE-16 or other
equivalent standards. DO NOT use it with a two-point anchorage
seat belt.
• Not all seat belt systems are exactly the same, therefore you are ad-
vised to try the PROTECT out first in the car in which it will be fitted.
• As JANÉ can only guarantee the total safety of its products when
used by the first buyer, it is very important not to use second-hand
products.

It is very important that you read these instructions carefully be-
fore using the PROTECT car safety seat for the first time. Make sure
that everyone who is ever going to use the car seat also knows how
to install it and use it properly. It is a known fact that a significant
percentage of car seat users do not install them correctly. Under-
standing the instruction manuals and applying the instructions
correctly is as important for your child's safety as the seat itself.
• JANÉ recommends replace your PROTECT car seat by a new one after
an accident that might subject the car seat to violent stresses.
• Check that all the seat belts are in their correct position and properly
adjusted for your PROTECT. Ensure that none of the belts are twisted.

time play with the belts or its buckles.
• The PROTECT seat is designed to be used in the car and must there-
fore not be used outside the car.
• In some vehicles the buckle strap of the seat belt can be positioned
quite far forwards and may come into contact with the edge of
the base, which makes the position unsafe. En este caso, pruebe a
adelantar el asiento o a instalarlo en otro asiento. En caso de duda,
contacte con JANÉ.
