1.4 Fit the buzzer and control unit, connect and route the wiring harness

Degrease the left installation site for the control unit -1- in the luggage compartment using a suitable cleaning
agent, e.g. industrial alcohol.

Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to mount the control unit -1- in the luggage compartment.

Note
The plugs -1- are designed such that they can only be plugged into the connector sockets on the control unit -3- in
one position.
Plug the sensor connector plugs -1- according to their numbering into the associated sockets "1" to "4" on the
control unit -3-, until you feel them click into position.
Push the power supply wiring harness connector plug -2- into the associated socket on the control unit -3-, until
you feel it click into position.
Plug the buzzer connector plug -4- into the associated "BUZ" socket on the control unit -3-, until you feel it click into
position.

Degrease the left installation site for the buzzer -1- in the luggage compartment using a suitable cleaning agent,
e.g. industrial alcohol.
Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to mount the buzzer -1- in the luggage compartment.
Unlock the black coupling station -2- in the luggage compartment on the left.
Unwind approximately 50 mm of the harness protective tape on the vehicle wiring.
Cut the green / red wire to the black connector plug PIN 8.
Crimp one end of the green / red wire -6- in a supplied crimp connector -5-.
Crimp the free end of the green / red wire -3- and the red single wire -4- from the power supply wiring harness
together in the crimp connector -5-.
Heat-shrink the crimp connector -5- to seal it, using the hot air blower in the -VAS 1978- wiring harness repair set.
Push the coupling station -2- together until it locks in place.
Route the black single wire from the power supply wiring harness to the vehicle earthing point -arrow-.
Connect the single wire to the earthing point -arrow-.

In the passenger compartment, use an appropriate cleaner, e.g. white spirit to degrease the area under the left-
hand belt guide at the back.
Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape to mount the buzzer -1- in the passenger compartment.

Unwind approximately 50 mm of the harness protective tape on the vehicle wiring.
Cut the vehicle's green/red wire.
Crimp one end of the green / red wire -1- in a supplied crimp connector -2-.
Crimp the free end of the green / red wire -3- and the red single wire -4- from the power supply wiring harness
together in the crimp connector -2-.
Heat-shrink over the duraseal connector -2- to seal it, using the hot air gun from the VAS 1978 wiring harness repair
set.
Route the black single wire from the power supply wiring harness to the vehicle earthing point -arrow-.
Connect the single wire to the earthing point -arrow-.
