Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled
properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on
scientific evidence available today.
Before first use

Remove any stickers and wipe the body of the appliance with a damp cloth.
Clean the plates with a damp cloth or sponge.

Note: The appliance may produce some smoke when you use it for the first time. This is normal.

Lightly grease the grilling plates with a little butter or oil.
Put the plug in the wall socket (Fig. ).
The power-on light and the heating-up light go on.

Prepare the ingredients.
You can find suggestions for ingredients in chapter 'Recipes'.
The panini grill is ready for use when the heating-up light goes out (Fig. ).

Place the ingredients on the lower grilling plate.
Note: Place the ingredients in the centre of the grilling plate for an optimal result.

To make paninis/sandwiches, put 1 slice of bread on the lower plate. Then spread the filling
onto the bread and put another slice of bread on top (Fig. ).
If you wish, you can also toast 2 paninis/sandwiches.

Close the grill (Fig. 5).
The grill is equipped with a clamping mechanism for the preparation of sandwiches/paninis. Lower
the upper grilling plate carefully onto the bread until the auto-lock mechanism clamps it onto the
lower grilling plate.
Note: During the grilling process, the heating-up light goes on and goes out from time to time.
This indicates that the heating elements switch on and off to maintain the correct temperature.

Open the appliance when the ingredients are properly grilled.
Note: The grilling time depends on the type of ingredients, the thickness of the ingredients and your
personal taste.

Remove the food with a wooden or plastic utensil (e.g. a spatula) (Fig. 6).
Do not use metal, sharp or abrasive kitchen utensils, as they damage the non-stick coating.

If you want to grill more food, place the next batch of food on the grill when the heating-up
light goes out.
Note: For optimal results, remove excess oil from the grilling plates with a piece of kitchen paper before
you place the next batch of food on the grill.

Unplug the appliance after use.
