SECTION 1
SAFETY
Before this MMI Panel Kit put into opera-
tion, the safety section at the front of this
manual should be read completely. This
will help avoid possible injury due to mis-
use or improper installation.
The definitions relating to the:
safety notations are described at the end
of the Safety Section in the front of this
manual — read them and their specific
text references carefully.
NOTE
If 4 in 1 Option (P/N 0558001914) is used
with this unit the Dual schedule param-
eter switching from the gun trigger is dis-
abled when TRIGGER LOCK is turned
"ON".
NOTE
Pulse Mig Welding can be done with this
MMI Panel if the power source has pulse
capability either built-in or using a Pulse
Pendant Control. There is two schedule
capability but both schedules will be in
either the PULSE mode or STANDARD
mode depending on the PROCESS
switch position on the Power Source or
Remote Pendant.
NOTE
The DuraDrive feeder is not compatible
and cannot be used with the UltraPulse
450i Pendant.
I. DESCRIPTION
Digital Dual Schedule MMI Panel
The Digital Dual Schedule MMI panel gives Dual Schedule capability with the
addition of a digital WFS and VOLT meter. The digital WFS meters adds
digital presettability to the wire feed speed. The digital wire feed speed can
be preset to the IPM (inches per minute) desired and the control circuitry will
maintain that wire feed speed within +/- 2 ipm. Preset of the arc voltage is
NOT supported but the actual arc voltage will be displayed on the Volts meter
during welding. During welding, the average WFS and VOLTS is calculated
and displayed on the meters for 10 seconds after welding has completed for
weld parameter verification and recording.
Figure 2-1
The dual schedule function allows two sets of weld parameters to be preset.
The SCHEDULE toggle switch position determines the welding schedule to
be used when the gun trigger is depressed. The welding schedules (param-
eters) can be switched while welding by using the "Click Click" trigger tech-
nique where the gun trigger is release and depressed quickly (within .2 sec).
This method of welding is used for providing a hot start, crater fill or gap filling
welding parameter in addition to the standard welding parameters typically
used for the given weld application
The digital meters have a "Hold" function that maintains the last displayed
welding parameters for approximately 10 seconds after welding has stopped.
The Basic Dual MMI panel can be used with the power sources listed in
Table 1.
