The appliance is switched on using the dial:

Turn the dial to the right to switch the appliance on and
to select the desired power level. The selected power
level (P-0 - P10) is shown in the display.
Please note
The energy supply remains turned off as long as there is no
suitable pot on the hob. The error message E1 appears in the
display and an acoustic signal sounds.
The appliance is switched off using the dial:

Turn the dial all the way to the left to bring the appliance
into Standby mode.
In Standby mode a horizontal, flashing bar (–) appears in the
display.
Please note
► Note that the appliance‟s fan continues to operate for a while
after the appliance has been switched off in order to
dissipate the heat that has built up in the appliance.
► If the appliance is unused for an extended period of time
unplug, the appliance from the socket in order disconnect it
from the mains power supply.
