Prerequisites
Before you set up the S9 Modem module, ensure that:
• You have a connection to a land-based analog telephone line. The S9 Modem
module does not work with digital or VoIP (voice over internet protocol)
telephone systems. If you are unsure, consult your telephone service provider.
• If the S9 Modem module is to be connected to a telephone wall jack that has
DSL signals activated, (ie, broadband via telephone line), then a DSL filter must
be installed between the telephone wall jack and the S9 Modem module.
Failure to do this can result in problems with both the S9 Modem module's
operation and the broadband internet connection.
Set up
Refer to illustrations C and D.
1. Disconnect the S9 device from the power outlet.
2. Connect the modem cable to the telephone wall socket.
If a telephone or other device is already connected to the telephone wall socket,
use the telephone line splitter provided to connect both the existing cable and
the modem cable to the wall socket.
3. Connect the modem cable to the S9 Modem module.
4. Align the S9 Modem module clips with their corresponding sockets and push
the S9 Modem module onto the S9 device. Ensure the module clips click into
place.
5. Reconnect the S9 device to the power outlet.
Note: Do not use the power save mode on the S9 device when the S9 Modem
module is connected.
