15. Troubleshooting

Problem
No air and no abrasive
Air only and no or very
little abrasive
Reduced blasting force
Excessive abrasive
consumption
Blasting chamber fi lls
with dust.
Abrasive spurts in
pulses.
Unit continuously
blasting and stops when
foot switch is activated.
Foot switch fails to
switch on.

Nozzle blocked.
Nozzle blocked at grip and/or blasting
hose blocked.
Kink(s) in the foot switch connector hose.
Switch set to intermediate position.
Pressure set too low.
Dirty or moist abrasive.
Insuffi cient abrasive in the unit.
Intake hose blocked.
Problems with the additional tank.
Function selector switch not properly set.
Nozzle worn.
Abrasive used up.
Abrasive feed hose is blocked / damaged
/ kinked.
Insuffi cient abrasive in the reservoir.
Extraction power set too high.
Insuffi cient extraction power.
Extractor dust bag full.
Nozzle connectors not vertical.
Abrasive used up or too dirty.
Kink in the suction hose.
Foot switch connected incorrectly.
No pressure at the compressed air
connection.
Kink(s) in the pneumatic hoses.
Pneumatic hoses connected incorrectly.
Power cord not connected.
Faulty fl uorescent lamp.
Faulty electronics.
Corrective action
Open the blasting nozzle unit and clean the nozzle
(Figure 26, 27, 28).
Unscrew the nozzle from the handle and blow it out
with compressed air. Without reconnecting the nozzle,
activate the foot switch to blow compressed air through
the hose.
Inspect and correct the connecting hoses.
Turn the switch until you feel it click into place.
Open the pressure regulator further (recommended
pressure: 4-5 bar).
Replace the abrasive.
Add abrasive.
Check that the intake hose is not kinked / pinched /
blocked. The intake hose must be securely attached to
the unit base (Figure 7).
Refer to "Instructions for Installing a Micro Sandblasting
Tank on the Vario basic", No. 21-9774
Make sure the selector switch clicks into place.
Replace the nozzle.
Replace the abrasive.
Drain the abrasive out and inspect / replace the feed
hose.
Add abrasive.
Reduce the extraction power.
Increase extraction pressure by sealing the openings on
the back of the unit (e.g., with a piece of tape)
(Figure 17 (b)).
Clean the extractor / replace the dust bag.
Make sure the nozzle is vertical.
Replace the abrasive.
Inspect the feed hose.
Inspect and correct the foot switch connection.
Inspect the compressed air lines and compressor.
Realign the hoses.
Replace the connectors.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Replace the fl uorescent lamp (refer to Section 7.7).
Have the Service department replace the electronics or
refer to the spare parts list.
