Preparing the Dashboard
1. The flush-mount template has adhesive on the back. Remove the protective liner and apply the template to the chosen mounting location.
2. Using a

cutting the mounting surface.
3. Using the jigsaw, cut the mounting surface along the inside of the solid line indicated on the flush-mount template. Use a file and sandpaper
to refine the size of the opening.
4. Place the flush-mount housing in the opening and make sure that the mounting locations in each corner line up with the pilot holes on the
flush-mount template after cutting, sanding, and filing. If they do not, mark corrections.
5. Drill four
/
in. (3 mm) pilot holes in the correct locations.

NOTE: A

in. (3 mm) pilot hole is nominal for plywood. Different dashboard materials may require a different size pilot hole.

Installing Additional Cables (Optional)
The power/data cable for the GPSMAP 600 series device is routed through the back of the flush-mount housing at the factory. If you want to
install additional cables, such as a cable for an external GPS antenna, you must route the additional cables through the rubber cable grommet in
the back of the housing before securing the housing to the dashboard.
1. Remove the rubber cable grommet from the back of the flush-mount housing. The
power/data cable is already routed through the center opening. Do not remove
the power/data cable.
2. Remove the grommet plug from one or both sides of the grommet, depending on
the number of additional cables you plan to install. The plug will remain attached
to the grommet. Do not cut the plug from the grommet.
notiCe: Do not remove a grommet plug from the grommet unless you run a cable
through the opening. The grommet plug keeps unwanted water from passing through
the housing behind the dash.
3. Route any additional cables through the opening in the back of the housing.
4. Place the device in the mount to determine the correct cable length. See page 3 for information on placing the device in the mount.
5. Open the split in the grommet and place an additional cable in the hole.
6. Insert the grommet back into the housing.
Installing a Drain Hose
When fitted in the housing, the GPSMAP 600 series device does not provide a watertight seal, so it is normal that water may enter the housing.
Because of this, there is a small drain located at the back of the housing. Install a section of
the back of the housing, and secure it with a
drain, do not overtighten the hose clamp. Route the drain hose to the floor or to a suitable drain location on the boat. Secure the drain hose the
structure of the boat.
