- Auto-ventilated motors (IC411) may be located outside the air flow.
- On motors with a direct cable output, check the power supply cables for damage.
- When the motors are fitted with accessories: thermal protections (CTP, etc.), space
heaters, speed control unit (GI, DT), they must be made inactive when running in the
smoke extraction mode. A system ensuring this disconnection is performed in automatic
must be planned (as per the 12103-3 standard)
- In speed variation, check that maximum speed will never exceed the speed of motors supplied
by mains.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
1- 'DUAL PURPOSE'
The motor elements must be inspected regularly, at the following intervals:
1.1 - Every 12 months:
- check of insulation resistance (R > 10 MΩ) under 500V in direct current); if R < 10 MΩ, stove
the stator and check insulation resistance or change the stator if the fault subsists.
- open the drain holes to remove any condensate build-up, then plug them to guarantee the
protection rating indicated on the motor nameplate.
- check the lack of dust and fat in the cooling circuit (eliminate all obstacles to proper motor
cooling).
- check the condition of the power supply cables.
- check the fastening of any accessories.
- check the condition of the lip seals.
1.2 - For motors fitted with bearings with grease nipples, top up grease if required as
indicated on the nameplate (grade, quantity of grease and interval), or grease every 2 years.
Change the bearings every 3 years.
1.3- After 40000 hours operation or 10 years installation, changing the complete motor is
highly recommended.
- At each disassembly, change the gaskets at the shaft passages, bearing connections (for
IP56/65/66), cover and body of the terminal box, cable gland holder or cable glands, by new
gaskets of identical nature after cleaning the parts. Grease the gaskets at the shaft passages.
2 - Use in smoke extraction only:
- It is recommended to run the motors in the horizontal position for at least 1 hour every month
and 15 minutes every 15 days for motors in the vertical position.
- For maintenance refer to the requirements described in paragraphs 1.1 to 1.3.
ONCE RUN IN SMOKE EXTRACTION, THE MOTORS MUST BE REPLACED.
