ADDITION TO THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS (Ref 4850 and 1889)
FOR SMOKE EXTRACTION MOTORS OF THE LSHT AND FLSHT RANGES
These motors are subject to strict requirements of use and maintenance as they are used to
ensure a SAFETY FUNCTION for individuals in case of fire of premises such as parking lots,
tunnels, and PABs.
COMPLIANCE
- The motors comply with the IEC 60034-1 and IEC 60072-1 construction standards, the
directive on Low Voltage 2014/35/UE and in this respect are CE marked.
The mechanical and electrical construction of these motors meet the requirements of the
European Standard EN 12101-3: 'Smoke and heat control systems - Part 3: Specification for
powered smoke and heat exhaust ventilators'
According to the type of motor concerned, they also comply with the standards and directives
relative to the energy rating and performance measurements.
This compliance allows these product ranges to be used in a machine subject to the application
of the Directive on Machinery 2006/42/CE, provided their integration or incorporation or/and
assembly are performed in compliance with the rules of the EN 60204 standard 'Electrical
Equipment of Machines' and the Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility 2014/30/UE
- These motors may not be commissioned before the machine they are incorporated to has been
declared compliant with the Directives applicable to it.
- When the motors are supplied by appropriate electronic converters or (and) controlled by
electronic command or control devices, they must be installed by a professional who will be
liable for compliance with the rules on electromagnetic compatibility of the country of installation
of the product.
- The installation of these motors shall comply with the regulations, decrees, by-laws, laws,
directives, application memos, standards, rules of the art, and any other document relative to
their place of installation. The liability of Leroy-Somer may not be sought if they are not

case of damage to the motor and/or packaging, make reservations with the carrier within 48
hours and inform the supplier who shall handle its overhauling within the warranty.
- Check compliance of the motors against the order (construction form, temperature class/time
of exposure, indications on the nameplate, etc.).
COMMISSIONING
- Refer to the nameplate to ensure that the motors chosen match the temperature and maximum
exposure time. Observe the temperature rise class, the maximum power and speed indicated
on the nameplate.
- Also observe the voltage(s) and frequency(ies) on the plate, and check that mains complies
with the tolerances set out in the IEC 60034-1 standard.
- Non-ventilated motors (IC418) must be located in the driven fan air flow. Check that the motors
are ventilated properly and the temperature rise class on the plate is observed.
