13. Do not touch the scissor blades while they are energised, as this may cause burns.
The scissors may still be so hot just after the HF power is switched off that they can cause burns.
14. Avoid contact between the energised bipolar scissors and monopolar instruments,
as this can cause damage to the HF generator.
15. To avoid patient injury in the event of accidental HF activation, do not lay active HF instruments on the patient.
When the scissors are not in use, place them in a container or on a clean, dry, non-conductive and readily visible surface well
removed from the patient.
16. Follow the recommended power settings and maximum voltage.
Always select the minimum necessary power.
The effectiveness of the setting should be judged by the user.
17. Repair / maintenance is not permitted.
18. Caution: Risk of injury due to sharp edges.
19. Consult a cardiologist before using HF surgery if the patient has a pacemaker.
20. Caution: When the Autostart function is used, HF activation occurs on contact with tissue.
21. Dirty scissor blades may lead to insufficient coagulation.
22. Perform a functional test using waste bandaging soaked in saline solution before use.
4. Preparation
Ensure that insulated parts do not come in contact with hard, pointed or heavy objects during preparation, as such objects may
damage the insulation and render the product unusable.
Preparation cycles

Soak the instrument immediately after use, or no later than 2 hours after use. Use only aldehyde-free
disinfectants (recommended: Gigasept Instru AF) designed for the disinfection of instruments (e.g. DGHM
or FDA approval, or CE mark).
Soaking
Place the instrument in an ultrasonic bath for at least 5 minutes.
Use a cleaning solution to soften coagulation residues (encrustations) and remove them with a soft
cleaning cloth.
Recommendation: Machine cleaning in a cleaning/disinfection machine and thermal disinfection.
Parameters: At least 5 minutes at 90 °C or A0 value > 3,000.
BOWA recommends the use of neutral to slightly alkaline cleaning agents or cleaning and disinfection
Cleaning/
agents free from potentially harmful ingredients.
Disinfection
Alcoholic and/or aldehydic ingredients may be permissible, depending on the concentration.
If necessary, blow off with filtered compressed air.
Only dry the products with compressed air at pressures below 3 bar, to avoid possible damage.
Retention time: 5–20 minutes
Sterilisation temperature: 134–137 °C
Autoclaving
Never use a flash autoclaving
procedure.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility if other types of cleaning and disinfection agents are used.
Follow the recommendations of the cleaning agent manufacturer.
5. Disposal
The medical product, packaging material and accessories must be disposed of in accordance with any applicable country-specific
regulations and laws.
6. Transport
Temperature: -20 to +50 °C; relative humidity: 0–75%, non-condensing; air pressure: 500–1,600 hPa
7. Storage
Temperature: +10 to +40 °C; relative humidity: 0–75%, non-condensing; air pressure: 500–1,600 hPa
Protect products from exposure to direct sunlight during storage. It is recommended to keep the products in the original packaging until
use.
