Retrofitting an Emglo K or KU Contractor
with an Air Master QTS-3 Basic Com-
pressor
These instructions explain how to retrofit an Air

Emglo K or KU Contractor compressor unit.

Stopping for Maintenance
The following procedures must be followed before
retrofitting the Quincy Compressor.
Step 1
Per O.S.H.A. regulation 1910.147: the Con-
trol of Hazardous Energy Source (Lockout/
Tagout), disconnect the compressor unit
from the power source and lockout the
connection to the source. Display a sign in
clear view stating that the compressor is
being serviced.
WARNING !
Never assume a compressor is safe to work on just
because it is not operating. Lockout and tagout per
O.S.H.A. regulation 1910.147.
Step 2
Wait for the unit to cool before starting to
service. (Temperatures of 125° F can burn
skin. Some surface temperatures exceed
350° F when the compressor is operating)
Step 3
Bleed all pressure from the tank. Open the
tank pressure relief valve to verify that the
system has been fully depressurized. Never
remove a plug to relieve the pressure!
Step 4
Open the manual drain valve in the tank.
Step 5
Inspect all components for damage and
replace any items not in proper working
order. Check with an authorized dealer for
motor or engine replacement parts. Never
attempt to repair a tank!
