QuikRead 101 Instrument

1 INTENDED USE
Orion Diagnostica has developed the QuikRead
101 system in order to provide you with a user­
friendly way of measuring analyte concentrations
important in medical diagnosis and monitoring.
The QuikRead 101 system consists of the Quik­
Read 101 Instrument, an accuracy dispenser
and the necessary QuikRead reagent kits. The
instrument can be operated on batteries or an
AC power supply and has connections for an
external printer or a personal computer, a barcode
reader and ethernet.
2 INTRODUCTION TO THE
QUIKREAD 101 INSTRUMENT
The QuikRead 101 Instrument is a photometer
capable of producing fully quantitative results.
The instrument has been designed and calibra­
ted for both photometric and turbidimetric use.
The system will guide you through the assay
procedure by means of a series of messages and
prompts shown on the display.
The photometer measures the absorbance of
the cuvette contents and converts the absorban­
ce value into a concentration value or positive/
negative result on the basis of preset kit calib­
ration data. The calibration data defining the
overall assay curve or cut­off value for each
kit is encoded on a magnetic card. This in­
formation is transferred to the QuikRead 101
Instrument by passing the magnetic card through
a card reader on the instrument. The QuikRead
101 Instrument is then ready for use.
The assays are performed according to the
user instructions accompanying each QuikRead
reagent kit. The results are available in minu­
tes.
The QuikRead 101 Instrument can be connected
to a remote Laboratory and Hospital Information
System (LIS/HIS) by using a specific product
QuikLink. QuikLink uses a standardised ASTM
protocol. Contact your local supplier for more
details.
